Here are some news about the OMEGA 7.
| | We are working hard on the small details so that the OMEGA 7 arrives onto the market before summer. We of course want a glider with a very high level of performance, but also with a smooth handling and a high passive security. We are flying with different prototypes and soon we'll choose the best one for the certification tests we should make end of March. We want to pass the DHV 2-3.
To give you a first idea of the OMEGA 7, we send you some pictures of our R & D pilots testing the wing with the three serial colours.

Double victories in the overall World Cup for ADVANCE !
We are very pleased to inform you that two ADVANCE pilots, Christian Maurer and Ewa Wisnierska won both the men and women’s rankings in the 2005 Paragliding World Cup in Serra da Estrela, Portugal.
Following both the 2004 European championships in Greece and the 2005 World championships in Brazil, the ADVANCE team was able to secure the 2005 overall world cup championship title as well. From the beginning, Chrigel Maurer impressively dominated this years’ world cup. Triumphing in Serbia, Bulgaria, and Italy, Chrigel’s lead in the overall rankings was neither a surprise nor a subject of dispute when he claimed his title as the overall World Cup champion in Portugal. Not only did ADVANCE succeed in attaining the PWC overall for the men, but Ewa Wisnierska clearly dominated the season and succeeded in winning the women’s overall World Cup championship title. Moreover, Karin Appenzeller, a further ADVANCE team pilot claimed third place in the women’s overall World Cup ranking as well.
ADVANCE continues to maintain excellent relationships with our competition pilots. The resulting feedback from such year long relationships has been integrated into our developmental work. For years this tradition has proved to be a guarantee for success at ADVANCE for a number of reasons. Firstly, our small team continues to achieve outstanding and top results at competitions. Secondly, working in close cooperation with our successful test pilots and their respective competition prototypes has established both insight and recognition concerning our new series gliders, which are always rated among the best in their class. For example, the new EPSIOLON 5 (DHV 1-2), which will be on the market soon is an excellent case in point of the thriving cooperation process among ADVANCE and our top test pilots.

Red Bull X-alps 2005!
Red Bull X-alps 2005!
Urs Loetscher completed the “hardest” paragliding competition using an ADVANCE SIGMA 6. He placed second in the competition, reaching Monaco less than 24 hours after Alex Hofer’s victorious win.
After a 13-day battle, the ADVANCE pilot Urs Loetscher claimed second place in this year’s XAlps. Loetscher came in after first place finisher Alex Hofer (12 days) and before Kasper Henny (14 days). A further ADVANCE pilot, Helmut (“Heli”) Eichholzer claimed fourth place. ADVANCE congratulates all participants for their outstanding performances !
The goal of the Red Bull XAlps, the hardest paragliding competition in the world, is to cover a 800 km course that begins in the Dachstein mountain range in Austria and ends in Monaco. Competitors are granted the decision to fly and/or trek/hike the course based on weather conditions. This year, many competitors had to trek and hike the course due to the bad flying conditions.
ADVANCE provided our competing pilots with the utmost lightest paragliders produced especially for this competition. Heli Eichholzer flew with an OMEGA prototype, Ben Kovco flew with an OMEGA 6, and Urs Loetscher with a SIGMA 6. These gliders were developed and manufactured using the lightest material available. As a result, our development department has indeed gained further promising insights, which will inevitably influence ADVANCE’S series production in the future.
Australia Ben Kovco flies with an Omega 6 27 made from very lightweight fabric. He is used to fly long distances in flat areas. Australia is only a hop away... let’s see how the kangaroo is adapted to the Alps!
Austria 1 Heli Eichholzer, the actual Austrian champion will be racing with a lightweight version of his competition proto. Heli is highly motivated and is supported by his girlfriend the famous Elisabeth Rauchenberger.
Germany 2 Holger Herfurth flies the same Omega 6 27 as Ben. Holger is one of the few athletes with X-Alps experience, he finished 8th in 2003. He is supported by his father, a Lufthansa pilot.
Switzerland 2 Urs L๖tscher a Swiss paragliding school owner is also a senior X-Alps athlete. He was flying with his Epsilon 4 in the middle of all the high performance wings. He was second, but a twisted ankle in the south of France in 2003 stopped him. This time, Urs is flying a light version of the Sigma 6 26.

The Team ADVANCE wishes all athletes a lot of unique moments during this very special race and, most important, a lot of fun!
